How to Get a Copy of Your Deed

You don't need us for this. Here's the do-it-yourself route, and when it's worth paying someone.

You can also get a non-certified copy yourself from the Cook County Clerk for $5 per document. We save you the time: we find the right document, explain it, and deliver it.

Option 1: Do it yourself through the Cook County Clerk

  1. Find the property's 14-digit PIN — on a tax bill, or with our free search.
  2. Note the document number of the deed you want (our deed history shows it).
  3. Search the Clerk's online recordings index by PIN or document number.
  4. Purchase a non-certified copy for $5 per document, online or in person.

Certified copies

Some uses — certain court filings, some government agencies — require a certified copy. Only the Cook County Clerk can issue one; fees are roughly $55–65. Property Deeds USA does not provide certified copies.

When our service helps

  • You're not sure which document is the right one (several deeds, condo units, land trusts).
  • You want the deed explained in plain English.
  • You want to know about open mortgages, liens or lawsuits — our Property Title Report.
  • You'd simply rather not spend the time.

Our pricing is flat: $24.95 for a deed copy, $49 for a title report.
